The Slow Down: Triggers

A virtual on-demand retreat with Carrie Contey, PhD

Give yourself 3 hours to step away from daily life, pause, settle in, and sort out your stress reactions.

You taking this time to reflect on your triggers is a giant gift to yourself and everyone you love.

You're holding a lot, for everyone.

It's time to focus on yourself.

In this light + deep retreat, we will rest, consider and clarify how we want to show up for ourselves, and in our relationships, when the inevitable challenges occur. You’ll leave feeling more fortified, rejuvenated, confident and intentional in how you handle all of life's ups and downs.

Settle - We'll start the morning with a giant exhale as we get grounded, present and tuned in to our sweet selves.

Learn - I'll offer new ways of thinking about your meltdowns and freak outs and offer practical tools for how to care for yourself before, during and after.

Consider + Clarify - Through a series of thoughtful writing prompts you'll explore ways to name, tame, tend and transcend your triggers and you will leave with a custom plan created from the inside out.

During our time together you’ll gain:

  • Greater empathy (and awareness) of why you lose your cool.

  • Skills to notice when you are getting out of sorts and how to take action to shift your state, before you flip your lid.

  • Tools for discharging your anger and frustration in ways that are healthy for you and the people around you.

  • Steps for re-regulating yourself and reconnecting with your people when you do freak out (because we're all human after all).

  • Renewed confidence that you can handle the challenging moments of life.

“I can’t tell you how on point this is! Honestly so fantastic - and JUST what I was needing to hear and connect with lately. Triggers-ugh!! The tool of name, tame, tend and transcend. I will absolutely be framing my reactions starting tomorrow that way. My kids thank you😉. But more importantly, me and my heart thank you. Seriously. ”

“Wanted to share some thoughts. I LOVE this topic of triggers because really, it's kind of mind blowing. I've been learning and growing in this area over the last few years but continue to get 'ah-ha' moments where I realize that no, my reaction is not the 'logical response' or the 'right way' of seeing something. That's a hard concept. So, I've been really excited to start to really play with the triggers I'm experiencing, trying to see where they stem from, what it's really about, notice that I'm being triggered vs just thinking I'm having a normal reaction, and figuring out how to handle things differently == how to get back into my human brain. Great timing, great info. Thanks for the lovely guidance!!!”

“My intentions with doing your program is to minimize any time I spend mothering from a triggered place so I can spend as much time as possible in the glow that comes when we share in an authentic, heart guided life together. I am hoping to see each trigger as a gateway towards greater grace and love. ”
